Abrasive (adjective)

Hindi translationअपमानित करना
Meaning: behave in a way that belittles or degrades (someone)
Memory Tip: A + base > Bring someone to a base (low) level

Usage: Abased in his own eyes, he determined to work hard.

Abet (verb)

Hindi translation: उकसाना
Meaning: encourage or assist (someone) to do something wrong
Memory Tip: A + bet > a bet often abets you to do something wrong


Usage: Abetting criminal activity is also a crime.

Abhor (verb)

Hindi translation: घृणा करना
Meaning: regard with disgust and hatred
Memory Tip: Abhor rhymes with “a bore” > Normally people dislike the company of a boring person

Usage: He abhors debates.

Abominate (verb)

Meaning: to dislike intensely
