Justice Uma Nath Singh to take oath as First Lokayukta of Nagaland

·        Justice Uma Nath Singh will take oath as the First Lokayukta of Nagaland.

·        Justice Singh is a former Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court. He will hold the office of the Lokayukta of Nagaland for a term of five years or till he attains the age of 70.

PM Modi launches India Korea startup hub in Seoul

·        Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched India Korea startup hub in Seoul.

·        India has emerged as a land of opportunity and no other large economy in the world is growing at over 7 per cent year after year.

Aero India event in Bengaluru to observe Technology Day on 3rd day

·        The Asia’s biggest air show Aero India event in Bengaluru will observe Technology Day on the third day.

·        The Indian National Academy of Engineering will hold a knowledge seminar on Regional Technology Aircraft.

·        Seminars are also organised on linking India to the Global Aerospace supply chain, MSMEs in the Aerospace Eco-system, Defence park in Kerala and on Indo Russian Defence and Aerospace cooperation.

Govt approves air travel entitlement to CAPF personnel on Delhi-Srinagar-Delhi, Jammu-Srinagar-Jammu sectors

·        The Home Ministry has approved entitlement of air travel to all personnel of Central Armed Police Forces, CAPFs.

·        The Ministry approved the entitlement of air travel on Delhi-Srinagar, Srinagar-Delhi, Jammu-Srinagar and Srinagar-Jammu sectors to all the personnel of CAPFs.

·        The decision will immediately benefit approximately 7 lakh 80 thousand personnel of the CAPFs in the ranks of Constable, Head Constable and ASI who were otherwise not eligible earlier.

India decides to stop its share of river waters which flow into Pakistan

·        The Government has decided to stop the share of river waters which flow into Pakistan.

·        Government of India will divert water from Eastern Rivers and supply it to the people in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.

·        According to the Indus Waters Treaty, subject to certain conditions, India has the right to use water flowing in eastern rivers, namely, the Beas, the Ravi and the Sutlej while Pakistan controls the right to use water in western rivers, namely, the Indus, the Jhelum and the Chenab.

UP CM launches Scheme for Adolescent girls

·        In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched Scheme for Adolescent girls.

·        The scheme focuses on girls aged between 11 to 14 years who have left studies and will take steps for proper nutrition and special care for them.

·        The state government also decided to observe Adolescent girls day on 8th of every month at Anganwadi centres across the state.

·        State Government will also launch Nutrition Campaign for the adolescent girls on 8th March.

Shisht Bharat Campaign

·        ‘Shisht Bharat Abhiyan’ was organised by an NGO.

·        The theme of the event was to discuss the importance of moral science education in schools and colleges and to include Moral Science as a subject in the educational curriculum.

·        China’s state-owned TV channel Xinhua unveiled the world’s first ever artificial intelligence (AI) female news anchor.

·        Xin Xiaomeng, the world’s first female AI news anchor is expected to make her professional debut during the upcoming meetings of China’s national legislature in March.

Science & Technology:

Australian mammal becomes first to go extinct due to climate change

·        A small brown rat which lived on a tiny island off northern Australia is the world's first mammal known to have become extinct due to "human-induced climate change,".

·        The Bramble Cay melomys inhabited a small coral island on the Great Barrier Reef, measuring about five hectares (12 acres) and located in the Torres Strait, between Queensland state and Papua New Guinea.

·        The mammal had not been seen for almost 10 years and was initially pronounced extinct after "exhaustive" conservation efforts failed.

Rare frog species found in Arunachal

·        Scientists at Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) have found a rare frog species in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.

·        The convex-vented horned species (Megophrys pachyproctus), collected from Tale Valley Wildlife Sanctuary of the district in 2017, is crimson in colour.

Chris Gayle breaks Shahid Afridi's record for most sixes in international cricket

·        Chris Gayle toppled Shahid Afridi to top the list of most international sixes.

·        Gayle surpasses Pakistan's Afridi. Gayle now has 477 international sixes, one more than Afridi.

·        Third on that list is former New Zealand wicket-keeper-batsman Brendon McCullum, who has hit 398 international sixes. Former Sri Lanka opener Sanath Jayasuriya is fourth with international sixes 352.

SC appoints former judge Jain as BCCI ombudsman

·        The Supreme Court appointed retired Supreme Court judge Justice D.K. Jain the first ombudsman under the new BCCI Constitution.

·        The court also appointed Lt. Gen. Ravi Thodge, PVSM, as the third member of the Committee of Administrators managing the BCCI.

India’s first RoboCop: Kerala Police inducts robot, gives it SI rank

·        Kerala Police Headquarters has become the first police department in the country to use a robot for police work.

·        CM Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the humanoid police robot at the police headquarters in the state.

·        Kerala: CM Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated KP-BOT, first humanoid police robot in India, in Thiruvananthapuram. The robot will perform duties of the front office of police headquarters.

Union Home Minister inaugurates “Waste to Wonder” Park in South Delhi

·        Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated of the “Waste to Wonder” Park under the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).

·        For the first time scrap has been used to create ‘Wealth from waste’.
