RBI Grade B Officers Phase I Exam was conducted today (June 17, 2017). There were 200 questions, which had to be answered in 120 minutes. There were four sections – General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning. All the sections except English Language were available bilingually, that is, both in English and in Hindi. Each question had 5 options and 1 mark will be awarded for every correct answer while 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

General Awareness section of RBI Grade B Officers Phase I Exam 2017:
The section had about 30 questions on Banking Awareness and Monetary Policy of RBI. Some of the questions were fundamental questions on banking terminology. Apart from that, there were about 40 questions from Current Affairs which were basically from the months of May and June. There were also about 10 questions from miscellaneous General Knowledge. This section was difficult when compared to the last year’s RBI Grade B Officer’s Exam.

English Language section of RBI Grade B Officers Phase I Exam 2017:
The section comprised 10 RC questions in total. There were two RC passages which had 5 questions in each passage. No vocabulary questions came from the RC passages. Most of the questions were inference based and so, were not easy. The second Reading Comprehension passage was lengthy. Other topics that came in the exam included Sentence correction, Idiom usage, Fill in the blanks, Sentence improvement, Statement Connection, etc. No para jumble and cloze test questions came this time. One of the things which were unique in this year’s paper was that the topics were jumbled. A student after attempting one Fill in the Blank question had to solve the next question from another topic. Overall, the level of difficulty of the questions was moderate to difficult.

Quantitative Aptitude section of RBI Grade B Officers Phase I Exam 2017:
This time there were no questions based on Number Series and Quadratic Inequalities in this section. There were 15 questions on Data Interpretation which were split into three sets of 5 questions each. While one set was based on Incomplete Table and additional information, the remaining two were calculative in nature. There were 5 questions on Data Sufficiency as well.
Apart from that, there were 10 quantitative aptitude questions which were lengthy, calculative and time consuming.
